Cultural cooperation

The Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in Education, Science, Culture and Sports, signed in 1995, makes the basis of cooperation between Belarus and Turkey in area of culture. In 2007 the Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Culture and Art between the Ministry of Culture of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey was signed, which determines the main directions of development of contacts in this field. The current regulatory framework allows for activities to promote Belarusian culture in Turkey.

The State Dance Company of Belarus led by People's Artist of Belarus Valentin Dudkevich

In November 2016 the Days of Belarus Culture took place in Turkey. The State Dance Company of Belarus led by People's Artist of Belarus Valentin Dudkevich gave concerts in the cities of Ankara and Eskisehir. The artists presented their best dance and instrumental numbers. Turkish audience warmly welcomed the performers from Belarus.

During the Days of Belarus Culture the Belarusian news agency BelTA presented its photo exhibition Belarus Today that features photos about different aspects of life in Belarus: landmark events in the relations between Belarus and Turkey and the country's achievements in industry, defense and social sector.

During the official visit of the President of Turkey to Belarus in 2016, the opening ceremony of the Cathedral mosque in Minsk, built with the financial assistance of Turkey, took place.

Days of Turkish Culture will be held in Belarus in 2017.

In March 2019, the head of the center for culture and art ”Hamamarkası“ E.Uruğlu paid a working visit to Minsk to get acquainted with the Belarusian school of modern fine arts. Together with E.Uruğlu, an exhibition of works by representatives of the National center for contemporary arts of Belarus in Ankara was organized from April to August 2019.

Within the framework of the 14th International Festival named by Yuri Bashmet in October 2019, a concert of the famous Turkish musician F.Say with the International chamber orchestra ”East-West Chamber Orchestra" was held.

In November 2019, the East-West Chamber Orchestra, conducted by the Belarusian pianist and conductor R.Krimer, held a concert in the great hall of Istanbul. The orchestra, together with the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Turkey, is working on the possibility of organizing an international music festival ”East-West“ in the city of Alanya in 2020-2021.
