On the event on the occasion of Independence Day of Belarus

On July 2, 2024 in the historical center of the Turkish capital – Ankara Castle – in the Belarusian Corner there was held a solemn reception dedicated to the Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.

The celebration was attended by representatives of the Grand National Assembly, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defence of Türkiye, diplomatic corps accredited in Ankara, Turkish expert, businessmen, ethnic Belarusians, honorary consuls of the Republic of Belarus.

In his speech Ambassador of Belarus Viktor Rybak congratulated his compatriots on Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi invaders, noted the significance of this holiday for every Belarusian and the heroic contribution of all fraternal peoples of the Soviet Union to the achievement of the common victory over fascism.

Ambassador Rybak spoke about Belarus' commitment to carefully preserving the memory of the glorious deeds of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and spoke against the rewriting of history, as well as noted the enormous cost of the Great Victory for the entire Soviet Union and the Belarusian people.

The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission noted the peacekeeping efforts of the Presidents of Belarus and Türkiye in achieving peace in Ukraine, as well as the destructive nature of the Western sanctions against Belarus, which have a detrimental effect on global food security in general and the fight against hunger in the world in particular.

It was also noted in the speech that this year Belarus and Türkiye became space powers.

An exposition dedicated to the genocide of the Belarusian people and the national culture of Belarus was organized in the Belarusian Corner with the assistance of the Consulate General in Istanbul. During the event, songs of the Pesnyary VIA were played.
